A thing or two about friendship

snow fightOne of my definitely good traits is being a good friend. At least, this is what I’m telling to myself when I go to bed, late at night. I am trying to be loyal, helpful, funny, cheerful and I offer a shoulder you may cry on. I’ve had many friends so far, some stayed longer than others, but I value each and every one of them. I’ve learned tremendous life lessons because of my friends, and it made me a better person. The most unexpected thing about friendship is it comes when you least well, expect it, but it takes time to grow and be cherished. I will be sharing a few tips with you, from my experience, on how to maintain the best link with your friends.

1. First of all, be present. It’s one thing to say “oh, yes”, “mhm”, and “I see”, while your’re busy Instagram stalking, and another thing to just give a minute of your time to your friend in need, by actually listening to their bickering. You may never know when you’re going to be in their shoes. Bazan’s profile won’t do you any good.

2. Show your appreciation to your friends by surprising them with little gifts. It shouldn’t be keys to Mercedes cars, unless you are Paris Hilton, but small, from-the-bottom-of-your-heart presents will only strengthen your relationship. Also, you can offer to help them as a gesture of love, whenever they need. Your friends will see you actually care about them, and as long as the small tokens of appreciation are real and personalized, you are on the right track.

3. Make time to meet them in person, not only on WhatsApp and Facebook. In this time and age, things move really fast, and so our lives, but this shouldn’t stop you on making reservations to a nice restaurant and get to know your friends better. A live connection is better than an online one, don’t you think?

I know these things I’ve mentioned so far have been said and re-said, but it won’t hurt reading them again. Have fun!
