Race day style with Monsoon

on
April 9, 2017

Off to the races? I’ve got you covered! From on-trend jumpsuits to elegant dresses, I’ve styled three race day looks from Monsoon to inspire your Ladies Day style.

The dress code for race day can be strict and, at times, a little confusing so make sure you abide by a few simple rules. Avoid anything too tight, revealing, strapless or short, and steer clear of eveningwear fabrics – then you should be all set. A headpiece is also required at most events; just make sure to style it properly as an integrated part of your outfit, not a haphazard add-on.

From florals and lace to bold colours, race day is the perfect excuse to embrace the best of fashion, and get creative with your choices.  Any opportunity to dress up in fabulous finery works for me so I’m excited about race season – and luckily, Monsoon has a wide range of outfits destined to stir up fashion envy and turn a few heads. This first look is destined for fashionistas who can’t say no to a divine lace outfit. Luxe lace is a huge trend for 2017, this is why I picked this blue midi dress and paired it with the most fantastic fascinator. The Marianne lace dress  overlaid with intricate floral lace for a soft feminine look is calling out for sun-kissed occasions. And what better event than a day at the races to be admired? The accessories only enhanced the beauty of this dress, and I picked both shoes and clutch in satin pale pink, for extra glam. The races can’t miss a fascinator, and the chic and elegant Margaret fascinator will bring style to your special occasion.

How beautiful is the Mirror Room of 11 Cadogan Gardens Hotel in London? A truly unforgettable boutique hotel in the heart of Chelsea, where you’re in for a quintessentially British experience and more. The former Victorian townhouse was home for prestigious aristocrats, politicians, and artists in the late 19th century, and it still offers a sense of privacy and exclusivity for celebrities to this day. Intriguing, evocative and unmistakably unique, the 11 Cadogan Gardens’s distinctive style serves a discerning clientele to the highest possible standards.

The second outfit is perfect for a more laid-back day at the races, yet still elegant and fabulous. I’ve chosen a full-length, floral print jumpsuit and styled it with gold accents. Out of all three outfits, I could’ve chosen to wear at the races, this one is the most comfortable.I have actually worn it Grand National (post to follow) and felt fabulous. The gold strappy sandals are so easy to wear, matching the gold clutch to perfection. For this outfit, I have opted for a show stopper navy hat, perfect for an event like the races.

For the third and final look, I’m wearing a mint green lace dress – it’s feminine, timeless and elegant. Paired with a white hatinator, and mint accessories.

Head over to the Monsoon blog to read more about each race day look, and see exclusive photos from my shoot at 11 Cadogan Gardens and Hampstead Park. You’ll find out more about race day trends with tips on how to bag that Ladies Day award this year.

Hi! That Marianne Lace Dress is freaking beautiful and you look so great in it! I am attending my best friend’s wedding later this summer and as her made-of-honour this dress would be perfect. I am usually a size 12, but on the Monsoon-website they only have size 14 left.. How did you experience the size to be? Normal? And do you remember which size you had in these photos? Hope you’ll find the time to answer 🙂

    Best wishes from Norway!

Hi, the dress is stunning, definitely one of my favorite, and I have tons of lace dresses! That dress is size 8 and it was pretty tight on me, as I am size 10, but wanted to lose some weight. You can still get a size 14 and adjust it, I recommend it! Have fun at the wedding!
