How to decorate your nursery

Ever since we found out we are having a little girl, I envisioned her nursery. Sadly, we didn’t have a spare room at the time, so when Emma was born, we had to put her crib next to our bed. She much preferred sleeping with us, so the crib had only aesthetic functions. We finally moved in our own house, and she had her own room, which she didn’t like spending too much time in. Probably because she was used to being all crammed up with mommy and daddy. As a matter of fact, we renovated her room first, secretly wishing she will love playing there, sleeping in her own bed.

After living in our house for 5 months now, we learnt so much about renovating and we are still learning as we go. A toddler’s room is a haven of organised chaos, this is what I’ve learnt. Which is why I wanted to maintain clean lines, white furniture, and a pop of colour. We really went for practicality but she is a 2 and a half year old little girl, so we had to sweeten up her room with a few floral wall applications and a princess canopy. We kept the rest quite minimal but functional with the help of Mamas & Papas Oxford White furniture.

We absolutely love every piece from the nursery set! Such a well built bed, dresser changer and wardrobe, that will last for a really long time. They can be easily used from day one up to teenage years and beyond. The cotbed’s slated sides offer a safe environment for your newborn, but as they grow you can remove the sides to create a toddler bed ideal for your little one. The bed can be used up to 4 years old and it comes with a full length underbed storage drawer for all your nursery accessories.

The dressers has three internal dividers, with plenty of space to organise and store all of Emma’s blankets, socks, nappies, and lots of other essentials. The soft close drawers mean no noise if you really want to arrange the nursery while the baby is sleeping. The dresser comes with a changing unit ideal for nappy changing, which we removed as we don’t need it anymore.

The Oxford wardrobe is amazing! It has plenty of storage with a variety of options to arrange your little one’s clothes. With a deep drawer for lots of additional essentials plus an internal shelf, you’re never short of space, and the two internal hanging rails give you even more room to store all baby’s outfits. The soft close drawers and doors are definitely a bonus.

The range comes with different other furniture pieces such as the books shelf  which offers a little more storage to showcase some keepsakes, books, and toys. The shelf also serves as a hanger for little coats and hats, ideal for our nursery!

What I love about our Oxford nursery furniture is the elegant heritage detailing in the striking cornice and plinth detailing, while adding a robust feel to the room. The nursery is not complete yet. We still want to add a few wall panelling to the room, make a few changes to where the furniture goes, but all in all, Emma is more and more happier in her room. She spends much more time playing with her soft toys, books and games here, and every time I go in her room I have this big smile on. She’s getting the room I wanted and dreamt of when I was little, so all the effort has a really big reward.

Furniture received as gift from Mamas & Papas. All opinions are my own.
