Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa – Suffolk

on
August 4, 2019

It’s been a long time since I relaxed with my closest friends on a night away, so when my best friend’s birthday was approaching, I felt the need to organise her a surprise getaway at the spa. We chose to unwind at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa in Suffolk’s horse racing town of Newmarket. The full-service hotel with comfortable rooms, great facilities and excellent food came highly recommended, so we embarked on an hour long journey from Essex to a nice weekend away.

The service is great throughout the hotel, we were welcomed by the staff and led to the spa area where we had our mini-massages booked in the morning. There are lots of spa days or weekend breaks packages you can pre-arrange, we went for the Sunday Spa Day. The spa area is gorgeous and the ideal retreat for a true pampering. It has a 15-metre hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room, a rooftop hot tub and various treatment rooms. We spent the entire day at the spa, indulging in hot conversations in the sauna, fun bubbles in the jacuzzi, and relaxing massages feeling the tension slowly melting away.

In between our treatments, we had an early lunch at the cafe, located by the entrance at the spa and the food was great!

The Bedford Lodge hotel retains the charm and character of a country house, offering modern comfort and a perfect blend of old and new. Our double room was decent in size, tastefully designed with complimentary Molton Brown products, fluffy robes, tea and coffee making facilities. We had a really great sleep in the comfortable mattress, after a night to remember with the girls!

We booked our dinner at the 2AA Rosette Squires Restaurant and we were amazed by the modern dining experience. The eclectic decor and charismatic ambience really made our experience memorable. The best dish we all agreed upon was the goat cheese entree. What a superb dish, so light but flavourful at the same time. There is a large variety to choose from, starting with tempura prawns, to burgers and steaks. I would gladly drive all the away there just to dine at Squires. We had a beautiful evening and birthday celebration, drinking wine and laughing with my friends. What a beautiful night!

We were quite sad to leave the hotel the next day, but we did have a really nice breakfast with poached eggs, bacon, tea and coffee. Hopefully, we’ll be back soon for another spa weekend with the girls, as we found the place really welcoming, excellent food, and great relaxing spa!
