How to count your blessings

I used to do a list of the good and the bad on the 31st of December. Every year. And then I would’ve followed with a resolution list. Either loose some weight, make more money, grow as a human being, all the same, with different nuances. This year was no different. Except I started counting my blessings and stopped making wishes. At least, not out loud anyway. It’s better to stay focused on what to be thankful for than having any regrets.

What made me who I am today, and I should be grateful for 2016? First of all, I finally discovered the joys of motherhood. I couldn’t have experienced happiness, worries, extreme love, pain, hope, and wonder at the same time, without having Emma-Chloe in our lives. It took me a long time deciding to embrace this new status, but I am overwhelmed by my baby’s sweetness, co-dependence, and seeing the world through her eyes makes me believe in miracles once more.

Getting to work with amazing brands in 2016 made me realize I am on the right path and I am doing what I love for a living. From heritage brands in the UK to famous international houses, my view on fashion extended and I was able to appreciate trends, new styles, and designer views. Another blessing I am thankful for, is our holiday in Spain, in February. It is in Barcelona where I have discovered I am a true gourmand, and it wasn’t due to pregnancy cravings. Their food was amazing, as well as the architecture, culture, and people. I can’t wait to go back with Emma and show her all the wonders of the world. The beach of San Sebastian must be the most beautiful I’ve seen so far, so welcoming, peaceful, with the softest sand and gorgeous view. So blessed to have witnessed it in all of its splendor last year.

There are so many reasons to be thankful for, and I can’t really share them all, but I have discovered myself as a woman last year and finally loved me with all I am: flaws, qualities; I’ve let go of people which didn’t help me grow and took me for granted. I’ve let go of bad habits, circumstances, and surrounded myself with people who appreciates me. As an influencer, I’ve discovered the power of valuing my work at its true meaning and making it known to publishers, PRs, and brands. Finding my place in a world of intrigues and competition was long and hard, but it was well worth it.

Getting to speak at Lincoln University as a guest, from my experience as an influencer must be the highlight of my professional life so far. Finally, our work means something in the advertising world, and we are taken for real. Brands discovered the power of bloggers and the smart ones are using it as a precise weapon in attracting a new audience.

I won’t be making resolutions for 2017. I will take each day as a gift, and fight for it as it’s the last day I’ll be having. I still want to grow as an influencer and work with amazing brands, see the world, enjoy my baby’s first steps, and becoming a better person, friend, and adviser. Thank you 2016 for all the lessons you’ve given me. Bring it on, 2017, I am ready!
