I can’t get enough of Greece. With every visit, I discover more and more about this beautiful country. Our trip to Crete Island was a breath of fresh air. We stayed at 5 star luxury resort and spa, Cavo Spada, which is located in the beautiful and vibrant city of Chania, in North-West Crete. The hotel is situated on a large private property, with access to the stunning Blue Flag pebble beach, and to the Gulf of Chania and Cape Spada.

The beautiful and elegant Cavo Spada Luxury Resort & Spa is located 22 kms west of the picturesque city of Chania. Its location combines in a unique way the beauty and tranquillity of the Cretan Archipelagos with the unsurpassed charm of the famous Old Venetian town which is only a short drive away. It is a perfect choice for families seeking relaxation in the sun, with great kids’ facilities and plenty of ways for adults to unwind.

The hotel is made up of 150 accommodation units, a main free-style lagoon like swimming pool (simply glorious at 1700 sqm), a large reception/lobby area, four restaurants, a main bar, pool bar, mini club, boutique store, two tennis courts and the absolute finest element to seduce your senses – the Cavo Spada Spa.  The Cavo Spada has its own sports club, made up of two fitness centres, bowling greens and a wide variety of sports and activities for guests to enjoy. Situated only 500m from a row of shops and restaurants, the resort is also in an ideal location for exploring the local culture.

The rooms are really spacious, and they are expertly designed with in-room facilities and luxurious furniture. You can stay all day long lying on a sunbed, or you can take some of the classes organised by the hotel, such as aqua aerobics, pilates, yoga, gymnastics, jogging, stretching, swimming lessons, and so much more. I absolutely loved my aqua aerobics class, so refreshing and fun!

With 3 restaurants available, you have plenty to choose from to enjoy the delicious Greek cuisine. The dining options are excellent, and the hotel organises entertainment every evening. You can enjoy live music once a week, whilst tasting the delicious Mediterranean and Cretan dishes. One evening, the Sea Line Beach Tavern organised Seafood night and everything was perfect! The same restaurant is the great choice for lunch when you want to relax by the beach or pool. I really loved the traditional souvlaki served here, what a blast!

On our last evening, we had dinner at Azzuro, which is an Italian a la carte restaurant and the location is superb, overlooking the entire resort and the endless sea. The food was one of the best I’ve had in Greece, and that grilled octopus was superb! The service was amazing, our waitress was really helpful and friendly, a true statement to Greek hospitality.

Cavo Spada has a mini-club for kids over three supervised by professional child care providers. If you want a few hours of relaxation in the sun, or spend some time at the spa, your little one will be well looked after. There are so many things to do outside the resort too, and the team here will be happy to arrange trips like olive oil or wine tasting, snorkelling and cultural explorations. You can also visit the small port of Kolymbari while taking a boat trip for the day.

I will happily return to Cavo Spada, I really felt at home while spending time with my family. The perfect setting for a holiday that will definitely become one of your favourites for years to come.
