Royal Lancaster London hotel review

London is an amazing touristic metropolis, served by so many hotels that it is really difficult to pick the best one to stay at. I have done the research for you, so all you need to do is book Royal Lancaster Hotel in Hyde Park the next time you’re travelling to London. The hotel is one of the most beautiful (and Instagrammable) hotels in London, as being a proud mid-century architectural icon. The breathaking views of the famous London skyline are simply stunning, thus not being able to stay away of the large window in our room, taking all in. With more than 50 years of being located in an unrivalled postcode in London, the hotel delivers outstanding service from the concierge staff, to the valet helping with your bags; the entire team is proud to present to you the Royal Lancaster lifestyle.

The newly renovated décor boasts of modern and premium retro with gold accents, marble floors, velvet sofas and geometric wood walls, softened by orchids and anthuriums and honeycomb-shaped light installations. There is something charming and comforting about the spacious lobby, probably because of the modern fireplace, or the leather chairs tucked behind tasteful ceiling arches.

The rooms are fantastic, spread over 18 floors, really on-trend and so spacious! We stayed in a double executive room offering a fantastic view over a skyline stretching from Wembley Stadium to The Shard. We could see London Eye, Big Ben, and at night, the city showed a fantastic show of lights and I could’ve stayed awake staring at the view for hours. It made me think seriously about getting an apartment in the city somewhere top floor, just because I can’t get enough of London’s beauty. The room had such a comfortable bed, a beautiful cyan velvet sofa, and a marble bathroom with a tub (thank God for bubble baths) with White Company toiletries. Every room offers a 4G smartphone with free calls that guests can use while out and about. The hotel doesn’t have a spa, but you can book in-room treatments and there is also a 24 hour gym if you want to stay in shape.

In the room I was welcomed by Happy Birthday balloons and such a delicious cake, to celebrate my birthday. Such a nice touch, showing the dedication and level of professionalism the hotel staff boasts of. I really love a personal service, it makes you want to go back whenever you get the chance. Another pleasant surprise was Nipa Thai, the most authentic restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining at. Located inside the hotel, the all-female kitchen is an award-winning Thai restaurant that combines a soulful and sophisticated Thailand ambiance with the most delicious authentic and traditional cuisine. The service was really warm and welcoming, especially as we were dining with our 1.5 year old. The ambiance is relaxed in a fine dining environment.

For starters we went for char-grilled marinated chicken served with peanut sauce and cucumber relish, deep friend spring rolls, crisp fried prawn dumplings served with homemade sauce, and traditional Thai fish cakes. They were cooked to perfection, and I could envision being in Asia with every bite. Honestly, the best food I’ve had in London in a long time! We had a really spicy seafood soup with lemongrass, chillies and citrus right before our mains, which was so fragrant and powerful.

The mains were the stars of our dinner. My husband had tempura king prawns with spicy plum sauce and I had grilled sirloin with chilli sauce, sautéed veggies and Jasmine steamed rice. Hands down, the best beef I’ve ever had. I wish I was in the kitchen to find out the recipe! So soft, aromatic, getting my taste buds tingling. We couldn’t have desserts after such generous courses, but the staff was so nice that they packed us a box of cakes to enjoy in our rooms. Talking about five stars service!

Before check out we had a delicious breakfast in our room we’ve chosen that evening. The choices are almost endless, and we went for smashed avocado on toast with poached eggs, fruit salad, yogurt, croissants, Eggs Benedict, orange juice, coffee, and cold cuts. Talking about breakfast of a champion!

I would definitely recommend staying at Royal Lancaster for the view, the premium location right next to Hyde Park, for the unbeatable service and the most delicious food. I am coming back!
