5 tips for traveling in style this summer
Since it’s almost July, we start panicking about what to wear on our next summer getaways. It might seem simple to pick some light clothes, a pair of bikini and some flip flops, but if you want to travel in style, you might need some tips. Do we go for minimalist packing or a much more prepared bag? I’ve done the research for you so read on my 5 tips for traveling like a stylish pro this summer.
- Pack light
Guilty of overpacking for a vacay? When traveling to somewhere warm it’s easy to assume you’ll be spending a lot of time in a bikini and under the sun. Packing light pieces that can take you from beach-to-bar is a must. Which is why I love this sheer and drape playsuit from Karen Millen. Great to quickly pop on top of your bathing suit and then wearing it in the evening for a nice dinner, the perfect holiday alternative to a little black dress has a wrap silhouette and stud-detailed cuffs for a flattering figure. Packing light pieces that can be worn during the day and straight through the night is smart. Plus, you will have extra space for all the holiday shopping we all plan for.
2. Keep it casual, but stylish
Trust me, you don’t need 6 lace dresses on your summer trip. Unless it’s for Fashion Week, and even there you don’t have an excuse. Instead, pack a sophisticated holiday look such as this red chic jumpsuit from Karen Millen. With skinny straps to highlight your shoulder and decolletage, a tie waist to exaggerate your silhouette, and loose-fitting legs, there would be no need for any fancy pieces. You can wear it with sliders for a stroll in the city, or with strappy heels in the evening. 3. Adopt a cool laid-back finish
You ever wondered how some ladies thought about walking in high heels on cobble? Indeed we need a pair of heels for special occasions, but they’re supposed to be worn accordingly. You could still spend your entire summer holiday in espadrilles such as the metallic bow in gold from Karen Millen and look as trendy as ever. Add some shimmer to your step with these special slip-ons. The ultimate in comfortable holiday shoes are the black ankle-tie espadrilles from Karen Millen, a staple for any casually sophisticated look. Elevated on a chunky raffia sole, they feature a fabric ankle tie that elegantly frames the legs.
4. Accessories to have and to hold
A pair of statement earrings, a great belt, a fun print scarf will come in handy when in doubt. Accessories can never be too many if you want to step up the game of traveling in style. When it comes to handbags, you could get away with two pieces: a metallic tote bag from Karen Millen for a contemporary polish vibe to your holiday. Big enough for all your daily essentials, and then some, it is so versatile, from beach to city.
For a more sophisticated look, the metallic clutch bag from Karen Millen is the perfect choice when on holiday. Featuring a perforated design that will add texture to your off-duty looks, the clutch is great for daily necessities and it can be paired with holiday dresses, or anything to be honest.
5. Adopt a recycled-outfit policy
Unless you’ve been mud fighting or hiking all day, you can wear certain pieces more than once in a single trip. Mix and match like the fashion pro I know you are. Don’t underestimate the power of a sundress worn for a casual night out, to be turned into a beach cover-up the next day.
Now you have it, my list of tips for the perfect summer holiday. Karen Millen has launched the holiday collection bursting with bold, bright and breezy dresses, skirts and separates, as well as the perfect summer accessories to take you from poolside lounging to beach-bar cocktails.
